The Phenomenal Neighborhood Behind the Hit HBO Treme’ Series:
You can see Tremé from your car or a bus, but you can ONLY experience it and feel it on a walking tour with US!
Tremé (Pronounced Tre-MAY) is one of the oldest and most vibrant neighborhoods in the United States. Originally settled by Creoles and Free Persons of Color, Tremé was the origin of the Civil Rights Movement in the south and birthplace to Jazz greats such as Alphonse Picou and Trombone Shorty. Today, Tremé is home to artists, musicians, and craftsmen, and is a living, breathing, joyful piece of New Orleans culture!
Our tour will explore African American history, including a visit to St Augustine Church and the Tomb of the Unknown Slave. Walk with us and see where many of our musicians got their inspiration–including a visit inside the most important laundromat in Rock and Roll history!
This is the original walking tour of the Tremé neighborhood!
May 1st through October 31st – 10:00 AM
November 1st through April 30th – 1:00PM
Tour length: 2 Hours
Walking Distance: One Mile
Tour begins from Mike’s At the Park, 834 N. Rampart Street
(top of the French Quarter, near Dumaine & North Rampart Streets).
